The Glad Game

I have recently taken an interest in a series of books about the law of attraction. They discuss how gratitude plays an important part in our day to day lives. In one of the books called ‘The Magic’ the author Rhonda Byrne mentions Walt Disney (yes, Disney in some shape or form always manages to pop up in everything I see or do) and the 1960 film ‘Pollyanna’ (an oldie but goodie) where they created ‘The Glad Game’.

Pollyanna explains that her father taught her to always find something to be glad about when things aren’t quite going her way. We often take a lot of things for granted without realising it, things that we complain about on a daily basis like not being able to get a seat on the train or how boring our job is. Finding something to be glad about in situations like that makes you feel so much better.

I thought it would be a great idea to play along together and share our gladness by blogging, tweeting or vlogging about ten things that we are most glad about in our lives at the moment. I’ll go first…

1. I am glad that I have a supportive family despite our differences sometimes. I wouldn’t change them for the world.

2. I am glad that I have a job, it may not be the job that I badly want right now but I love the people I work with and I’m earning money.

3. I am glad that I have a roof over my head. It’s not my own place but I am warm and dry and have a cosy bed and somewhere to keep my possessions.

4. I am glad that I get to eat nice food, whether it be home cooked or in restaurants.

5. I am glad that I have lots of lovely friends and get to spent time with them.

6. I am glad that I have good health and only experience minor ailments occasionally.

7. I am glad that there are busses that get me to work each morning despite how crowded they can be with school children. I can listen to my music and read my kindle.

8. I am glad of the bills I have to pay which allow me to experience the great services I receive from various companies.

9. I am glad that I own the technology that provides me with entertainment and ables me to connect with people all over the world.

10. I am glad that I have the ability to make people smile. Bringing joy into someone’s life is what makes me happy.

Everything that I have listed I’ve thought about in detail as I realise that there are so many people in the world that are less fortunate than me who are lonely, homeless, sick and hungry. Many people complain about the bills they receive but just think about what you are getting in return. When you turn your way of thinking around, things become a lot clearer.

Now we have played the glad game try implementing it into your daily lives every time you go to complain about something.

Disney Collectors Tag

This is my first tag post thought up and written by me. Please feel free to use it in your blog posts and videos and tag your friends. Your answers can be as long or short as you like.

1) What are you currently collecting?

I collect the occasional Tsum Tsum (when I say occasional, I mean I don’t buy them everytime I see them). My collection has slowed down a little at the moment. I also collect pins.

2) Is there anything that you have previously collected but stopped?

Not that I can think of but I did have a bit of a Disney sock fettish about 15 years ago, does that count?

3) Is there anything that you are thinking about collecting?

I have recently taken a liking to Vinylmations. I never used to like them but they have grown on me and as a fan of designer art toys I think they’d be a welcomed addition to my collections.

4) Do you have a special place/places where you keep your collections?

No. My bedroom is a miss-match of randomness, I have things dotted all over the place including on my bed. I should really organise my collections though.

5) What are your favourite shops for buying Disney merchandise?

Obviously the Disney Store but I think Clinton Cards are upping their game on the Disney merch front so I always have a nose in there now. I also like Primark for clothing and accessories.

6) Is there anything you would like to collect but can’t?

I’d like to collect mugs but I have no room for them. Every time I see a nice mug I want to buy it especially if it has a Beauty and the Beast or Alice in Wonderland design.

7) What is your favourite piece/pieces of Disney memorabilia?

Definitely my Lumierre and Cogsworth from Disneyland Paris.

8) Does your partner/loved ones approve of your collections?

I’m living with my parents at the moment and I think they are more aware of how much I am spending more than anything else. They are getting used to my obsession though and they like some of the merchandise I bring home.

9) Is there anything that you have really wanted to get your hands on?

I have always wanted a Chip mug from WDW but hopefully I can get one next year if my WDW trip goes ahead.

10) What are your ultimate collectors goals?

I would like to build up an impressive collection of pins. So far I have 19 single pins and one set of 6.

Moving Forward In 2017

Firstly I was like to say Happy new year to you all. I hope you have lots of fun things planned for 2017. If last year wasn’t what you were expecting and you had some bad experiences I truly hope this year will be better for you.

I love blogging regardless of whether people read my posts or not. I have really enjoyed writing my trip reports but it recently dawned on me that some people may not be that interested in reading about what I get up to on my Disneyland Paris trips.

This got me thinking… so I’m pleased to tell you that exciting things are coming to ‘Lost In The Magic’ in the year ahead. I am currently working on new Disney themed content with more regular posts that will run alongside my trip reports.

I have upped my game on social media by creating Pinterest and Instagram accounts to accompany my blog. I have also been toying with the idea of hosting live chats and giveaways on twitter. Being able to involve everyone somehow is my main focus.

I hope you will join me on my future blogging adventure by subscribing. It would make me very happy.
